Dingdong Dantes: Joining Mowelfund Is One of My Bucket List Achievements

Filipino actor Dingdong Dantes says that being part of Mowelfund’s Board of Trustees was one of his major highlights last year.

In his Instagram post last October 30, Dantes recounted his early encounters with the institution.

“In our quaint neighborhood of Cubao, right next to my sisters’ school, stands the Mowelfund institution. I was always intrigued by it as I used to walk my sisters to their classes from the late ‘80s to the early ’90s. My curiosity about this place grew, and little did I know, it would become a significant chapter in my life’s story,” he reminisced.

The multi-awarded actor revealed that he has been actively participating in various Mowelfund activities since the early 2000s.

His connection with the institution grew deeper when his organization, the League of Filipino Actors or AKTOR, became a Mowelfund beneficiary.

It has always been Dantes’s passion and mission to give back to the industry in whatever shape and form he can.

“I had always prayed for a chance where my passion could make a difference, where my deepest enthusiasm could intersect with meaningful purpose.,” he expressed.

He then continued how he found himself fulfilling this dream through Mowelfund, an institution dedicated to “uplifting, empowering, and advancing the welfare of the men and women in front and behind the movie and TV industry.”

Thus, when offered a spot on the institution’s board of members, accepting the role was probably one of the easiest decisions he has ever made.

As the newest member, Dantes looks forward to contributing to Mowelfund’s growth, especially now that it’s entering its 50th year.

“I’m excited to give birth to new projects and programs that will benefit the members of the movie and TV industry,” Dantes said.

He also conveyed his enthusiasm for welcoming more members, stating he wants them to see Mowelfund as a nurturing home committed to their welfare.

Ultimately, he is thrilled to witness the institution’s future journey.

“I see its potential to be recognized nationwide as an institution that can supply state-of-the-art knowledge and wisdom about the film and television industry,” he shared.

The Kapuso actor then took the opportunity to express his gratitude following the success of his Metro Manila Film Festival entry, Rewind.

It is officially the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time, reaching a phenomenal worldwide gross of Php 902 million.

When asked about his future endeavors, Dantes said to expect more of him in Mowelfund.
