Born on September 14, 1919, Josefino Cenizal grew up with immense mastery in music. His skill was greatly influenced by his mother, Rosario Ymson Cenizal, his first tutor in solfeggio and violin. Cenizal also studied cello, piano, and voice at the Conservatory of Music of the University of the Philippines.
With the talent that he had, Cenizal already experienced a lot in his younger days. He played the piano every night at Radio KZRM, performed at the Bay View Hotel and even in luxurious cruise lines. When he turned 17, he was able to conduct an orchestra and play at the US Army Navy Club.
